Even though this is not a technical economics book, it is never the less, a book about the South African economy. How its structure capitalist and neo liberalism did not change in the onset of democracy in 1994. What the incoming government thought they could do was to use a capitalist neo liberal free market economy deliver socialist deliverables. That somehow the capitalist system if not tampered with would be able to create a surplus in revenue that they would be able to rectify the imbalances of apartheid. We now know that they were not able to succeed, instead what happened was that when the economy grew it was jobless growth and the dominance of the economy by white monopoly capital grew instead of shrinking. Black products of BBBEE and BEE before that were a duplication of the existing status core. We are at a point now in 2018, where there is talk of Radical Economic Transformation, expropriation of land without compensation, nationalization of at least 50% of the economy the nationalization of the South African Reserve Bank and so on. This book therefore is merely adding to that narrative, I would be happy if it could contribute to a people driven revolution, against capitalism and the installation of socialism.
